Reluctant Witness Laura Cahill Book 1 eBook Jessica Strong Victorine Lieske

This is a fast paced detective/legal thriller. There are a lot of characters to keep up with and I do wish the main ones were a little more fleshed out. Of course, that would make the story twice as long. On the whole I enjoyed this tale of the legal system having to play let's make a deal to get the bad guys to give up the worse guys. It's a reality in today's world and well illustrated here.

Reluctant Witness Laura Cahill Book 1 eBook Jessica Strong Victorine Lieske Reviews

In today's electronic world, with e-books glutting the marketplace, many writers are being published who probably shouldn't be. Ms. Strong, on the other hand, can really write! Her command of words, sentence structure, plot-building, and suspense is clearly evident. "What's in the Closet" is a hard-boiled, fast-paced legal thriller that will keep your interest from the first page to the last. I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it.

Reluctant Witness was a well-written thriller crime thriller. I felt for her characters as they hunted down all the clues and worked through the modern-day New York puzzle. I had to keep reading to see what happened to the cast of characters. It was a clean read. I'm wondering what Jessica Strong has in store for our district attorney, Laura Cahill.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
WHAT'S IN THE CLOSET is a clean, legal thriller that touches upon the challenges of justice and coming to terms with past regrets. I appreciated the intricate personal relationships between some of the characters, and how they're all brought together by this one crime that only seems to grow in size as the story progresses.

I really enjoyed the plot, but the writing style prevented me from becoming completely engaged. Scene transitions were often abrupt, with no real segue. Although this did lend to the fast pace of the book, sometimes it took me a moment to catch up to the switch. Certain descriptions struck me as a little repetitious, yet not so much that it overwhelmed the story. I'm also not a fan of multiple punctuation marks at the end of the same sentence, and their use seemed unnecessary and distracting.

Overall, I found the story to be intriguing and satisfying, and the author's avoidance of profanity and gore makes this a rare, clean thriller in a market that thrives on the shock value of coarse language and graphic violence.

Review disclosure I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Couldn't get more than about 4% into this book. It reads more like a script than a book. Very matter-of-fact and dry. Sorry.
